A 5-minute walk from Shinjuku Station. Located on the 8th floor of the Pasela Resorts Shinjuku Main Store near Shinjuku City Hall, Three Monkeys Cafe is one of the largest darts and sports bars in all of Shinjuku.
There are a total of six dart boards in the establishment. There’s both an open table seating area and a more relaxed semi-private area. For just the price of one food item in addition to the seating charge, you can play darts for one hour. Many people come here for the darts, as the spacious and relaxing atmosphere creates an ideal environment for playing. There are a variety of ways to play darts here, whether by yourself for maximum focus or over a meal with friends or colleagues. And of course, beginners are quite welcome here. The staff will provide polite assistance if you want help on how to throw, want to learn the rules, or just want some tips, so even those who are new to darts can easily have a good time.
One of the biggest reasons for the popularity of Three Monkeys Cafe Shinjuku Main Store is that you can enjoy watching sports on impressively large screens. There is a 100-inch screen and five large monitors inside the bar, so you can get a great view of the game no matter where you’re sitting. There are always sports matches of all genres playing, including soccer, baseball, rugby, basketball, football, extreme sports, and motorsports. They can also show multiple channels at the same time, so if there’s a specific sport you’d like to watch, feel free to make a request.
There is a bar counter where you can have a relaxing moment on your own, tables where you can sit down and eat in comfort, and also a lawn area where you can take off your shoes and chill. There probably aren’t many places where you can sit on the grass, or even lie down, while watching the games. It’s a unique spot where you can enjoy a taste of the outdoors while remaining comfortably inside.
And since a good drink is an essential part of watching sports, you can’t miss their vast drink menu. It boasts over 200 kinds to choose from, including beer, wine, and cocktails. Their selection of Japanese whiskies is particularly popular with international visitors. Of course, popular choices such as Yamazaki, Hibiki, Hakushu, and Yoichi are on the lineup. They’re great for adding a touch of luxury to your sports viewing experience, and can be enjoyed straight, on the rocks, with water, or with soda.
The diverse array of non-alcoholic options is also a welcome addition. There are also several dessert drinks, which are not only delicious but so visually appealing that you’ll want to snap a photo of them before you indulge. It’s the perfect place to enjoy drinks, watch a game, and have a great time.
When I actually visited, what really surprised me was their food. In addition to the appetizers and snacks that wonderfully complement alcoholic beverages, they also offer a restaurant-level selection of rice dishes, noodles, pasta, pizza, and more. As I was deciding what to order, the staff recommended their favorite items. The first was the homemade roast beef. The roast beef is slow-cooked at a low temperature on-site, and boasts a juicy texture and a meaty flavor that spreads throughout your mouth.
The second was a honey toast made from an entire loaf of milk bread. The whole loaf is buttered, then topped with a generous amount of honey, along with whipped cream and ice cream, and served with fruit. This specialty dessert is delivered from the kitchen of Karaoke Pasela, located in the same building as the bar. Its hearty size makes for a satisfying experience. All the other dishes such as fried items and cheesy nachos, which are perfect for enjoying during a round of darts or while watching a game, are made with authentic quality. It’s no wonder that so many regulars come here for the food. It’s a place you have to check out if you want to enjoy both sports and food.
